The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) on Wednesday recommended Mohammad Mustafa as Chairman of NABARD.
“After interviewing 15 candidates on August 16-17, 2022, the office recommends Mohammad Mustafa for the post of President of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD),” the FSIB said in a statement. .
The final decision on the FSIB’s recommendation would be taken by the Cabinet Appointments Committee, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mustafa, a 1995 IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh, served as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Small Industries Development Bank of India.
Previously, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services and also as Director.
He was also CMD of the National Housing Bank between 2014 and 2015 and MD of CERSAI in 2016.
NABARD is the apex regulator for the comprehensive regulation of regional rural banks and apex cooperative banks in India.
